Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to enrol with ENTRUST and register my project before applying?

In this final funding round organisations must have enrolled with ENTRUST as an EB prior to submitting an application – this is asked in the Pre-Qualification Questionnaire. Your project does not have to be registered, though we may prioritise projects which have registration already confirmed. If we are interested in supporting your project and your project is not yet registered with ENTRUST then we will make you an in-principle offer which will be subject to you meeting ENTRUST requirements. An in –principle offer from the WREF does not provide any guarantee that your project will meet ENTRUST requirements.

Do I need to provide a 3rd party contribution?

No. The 10% contribution, which is a requirement of the Landfill Text Credit Scheme, has been donated directly by the Landfill Operators who contribute to the fund.

What are the deadlines and time scales for applications?

‘If you wish to apply to this final funding round of WREF you must first complete the Pre-Qualification Questionnaire, a link to which you can find on the Application page of the WREF website. Your answers will then be reviewed by the WREF Team.

If your organisation and project meet the basic criteria a member of the WREF team will provide a copy of the Application Form by email.

Both the Pre-Qualification Questionnaire and the Application Form must be completed within the application window, which runs from 7 January to 7 February 2019.

Applicants will be informed of the result within 8-10 weeks.

Is there a time limit in which my grant offer must be spent?

All WREF offers have a commencement date by which the project must be started and a completion date by which the final grant claim must be submitted. For this final round first claims must be made within 8 months of the in principle offer and the final claim made within 12 months.

Do I have to pay a 2% fee to ENTRUST?

No, we have already paid this fee.

ENTRUST tell me that my project must be within 10 miles of a landfill site. How can I find out whether my project is eligible and where my nearest landfill site is?

ENTRUST have confirmed that all of the 4 boroughs are within 10 miles of a landfill site and therefore eligible for landfill tax funding.

The Thames Waste site at Beddington Corner, Mitcham, covers the majority of the 4 boroughs. Groundwork UK can send you a map which shows this site. You will need this information when registering your project with ENTRUST.
